The goal of these classes is to empower women and their partners to make educated choices throughout the labor experience.

Customized Online Prenatal Class

 

Brand New Class! This class is 3 hour online session(s) from the comfort of your own home. The goal of this class is to prepare the mom-to be and supportive partner(s) for labour, as well as to give an introduction to breastfeeding and what to expect in the postpartum period. The information provided in the class can be customized to the individual couple. As with all courses, continued support is available via email to answer any questions that come up after the course is finished. 

Some topics include:​

  • Stages of labor- what each stage looks like and how to support your partner through each one.

  • Exploring relaxation and coping techniques

  • How to reduce and manage the pain of labor (pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods).

  • Medical Interventions - when labor takes an unexpected turn

  • Developing a workable list of birth wishes

  • The first two weeks postpartum (including an introduction to breastfeeding and caring for a newborn)

  • What changes to expect during the pandemic in hospital

Customized In-home Prenatal Class

 

Generally this class is 3.5-4 hours in length in your own home. The goal of this class is to prepare the mom-to be and supportive partner(s) for labour, as well as to give an introduction to breastfeeding and what to expect in the postpartum period. The information provided in the class can be customized to the individual couple.

  • Stages of labor- what each stage looks like and how to support your partner through each one.

  • Exploring relaxation and coping techniques

  • How to reduce and manage the pain of labor (pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods).

  • Medical Interventions - when labor takes an unexpected turn

  • Developing a workable list of birth wishes

  • The first two weeks postpartum (including breastfeeding and the newborn)

Wellness assessment must be done prior to class, hand sanitization must be done by all participants as well as the wearing of a mask when social distancing is not possible

6 Week All-inclusive Prenatal Experience - CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE

 

This class is designed for anyone wanting to maximize the information they have about labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. It is delivered over the course of 6 weeks and should be started between the 29th to 31st week of pregnancy. This class will have a maximum of 8 mothers (with a partner), which encourages meaningful discussion while maintaining the comfort of a small class.

 

Some topics include:

  • What to expect in the final trimester of pregnancy, including signs of preterm labor

  • Stages of labor- what each stage looks like and how to support your partner through each one.

  • Exploring relaxation and coping techniques

  • Introduction to prenatal yoga to relieve aches and pains and prepare your body for birth

  • How to reduce and manage the pain of labor (pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods).

  • Medical Interventions - when labor takes an unexpected turn

  • Developing a workable list of birth wishes

  • Postpartum emotions and changes

  • The first two weeks postpartum (including breastfeeding and the newborn).

Weekend Intensive Course - 1 day - CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE

 

This is a 1-day course that offers mothers and their partners a thorough review of what can be expected through labor and delivery, as well as during the postpartum period. This class is designed for those who are unable to make the time commitment of the 6-week course. It is also great for those looking for a refresher for second or successive deliveries.

 

Content will include:

  • Labour and delivery review

  • Postpartum and newborn review

  • Coping techniques for dealing with and reducing the pain felt in labor

  • Postpartum realities
